Product Description

What is Diatomaceous Earth?

Diatomaceous Earth (DE) is a soft, siliceous sedimentary rock containing the fossilized skeletal remains of diatoms.

Diatomaceous Earth is composed primarily of silicon dioxide (Si02). White Lake EarthTM is a naturally pure form of amorphous silicon dioxide and averages over 83.76% Si02, with calcium, magnesium, and other beneficial trace mineral oxides.

Diatomaceous Earth Benefits:

  • Anti-Caking & Flow Agent: Anti-caking agents are added to grain, feed and supplements to absorb moisture that can otherwise lead to clumping and caking. White Lake Earth™ keeps things dry, and improves flowability, while creating an unfavorable environment for mold and bacterial growth.
  • Pest Control: Diatomaceous earth is often used as a natural pest control in empty grain silos and storage bins as a preventative measure for grain storage.
    • In the Garden (as a natural pesticide): Simply sprinkle (or mix with water and spray) at the base of plants or directly on to the plants. Please note: diatomaceous earth can also be harmful to beneficial insects such as honey bees. Be careful not to apply the product to surfaces with which these beneficial insects may come in contact.
    • In the Home (for control of fleas, ticks, mites, bedbugs etc): Sprinkle the powder in the cracks and crevices around your home - along baseboards, appliances, in the seams of bed and couches, etc. Leave the product down for at least at week. Monitor the results and vacuum or sweep up the product when desired results are obtained. Please note: as with any type of dust, try to avoid inhaling large amounts.
    • External Parasites: Diatomaceous earth is commonly used to kill external parasites such as fleas, ticks, mites, etc. The product is safe to use with all animals (excluding reptiles) and is often dusted into an animal's fur (using your hands or any other creative method, for example, a make-up powder puff). Be sure not to get the product in the animal's eyes or ears. Re-apply if the animal gets wet or when the powder is no longer present.
  • Soil Amendment: Diatomaceous earth is also often mixed into soil as a soil amendment and has been shown to increase nutrient and moisture retention in the soil.
